This AAT Bookkeeping Course for an Office Manager or Administrator has been allocated as the most appropriate AAT training course for someone with a background in Administration. On successful completion, you will receive the AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping.


Course Objective

To pass the AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping. The course comprises of two assessments: 1 on the Principles of Bookkeeping and Accounts and the other on Excel Spreadsheets. The mixture of learning on these assessment act as an excellent foundation in Finance and Accounts.

Course Format

The course is highly interactive and is delivered in a classroom environment at our training centre in London. All of the tutors are Chartered Accountants.

An Introduction to Bookkeeping

  • Introduction to the job role and career path for a bookkeeper
  • Bookkeeping terms

Working within Bookkeeping

  • What is Single-entry bookkeeping
  • What is VAT and how is it handled
  • Cash and credit transactions
  • Coding and batch control
  • The books of prime entry

Bookkeeping and Accounts

  • Financial documents
  • How to record financial transactions in the Books of Prime Entry
  • How to deliver a Bank Reconciliation
  • The Petty Cash System
  • The Imprest System
  • A TB from the General Ledger

Excel spreadsheet software

  • Entering, edit and organising data in spreadsheets
  • Formulas and tools to summarise / display spreadsheet information

Additional Course Info

Fees include the learning materials and all the tuition. However, additional course books can be purchased is desired.

AAT Student Membership and Exams must be purhcased separately.

Dates and Duration

The course is either taken full-time over five days. This will run Monday to Friday from 10:30 to 16:30.

The course is can be taken part-time on evenings. It will run for eight weeks from 6:15 to 8:15.

Course Requirements

There are no requirements, as it is a beginner course.


The course provides a qualification in the AAT. It is a fast track course, so you can gain a Certificate in a relatively short time. We have a very high pass rate.


AAT Certification after successful completion. You will receive the AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping. This means that you will have an internationally recognised qualification in Finance. This will make you more employable and open up the opportunity to continue to study AAT at higher levels.
